Midge Johnson, Royal Chislers, Blue Earth. Why not turn your art work into a useful item? Here is an end table I made using my 2"deep relief carving. It Measures 22" by 22" and is carved from basswood.I finished it with a mixture of natural and dark watco wax with some burn't sienna oil paint mixed in. After 20 minutes or so be sure and wipe off some of the excess. Then I painted the trees and bushes with some thinned down hunters green oil paint and used a little thinned raw umber oil paint to enhance the shadows. I used 3" decorative wide molding from Menards to frame around the edges, mitering the corners. Be sure to raise it up a quarter of an inch to allow for a 1/4" plate glass top to fit in. I used stairway spindles cut to the height I wanted and attached them to the bottom for legs. They sell special brackets for this or you can use screws to attach them. A thin bead of clear flexable caulk around the glass edge would prevent any spills from leaking down under the glass.
